Bebe in the Upper West Side

I had such a fun time with one of my best friends Bebe this week in the Upper West Side! We're organizing a group of amazing and talented people to submit a video for the Macy's Acapella Contest to win $25,000 for our school (I strongly suggest everyone checks it out because it's a great way to raise money for your school as well as get together with your friends and make something amazing)! After we came up with some voice parts, we decided to go to this really nice thai food place and tried some really delicious stuff (like the thai iced tea pictured above). It was so great getting to do this photoshoot while hanging out and just playing around with light and shadows!

Get Bebe's Look: White Tank Shirt from Topshop, Lilac Mesh Shirt from LF, BDG shorts from Urban Outfitters, Socks from Champion, Sneakers from Adidas, Sunnies from Warby Parker, Black Shoulder Bag from Blue Lemon Paris, Bracelets (were made by Bebe herself!), Gold Digital Watch from Casio, Gold Chain Necklace by Robin Landau, and all of Bebe's rings were collected over time from Paris and family members.

Style Inspiration: "Cosette Style!! I'm kidding! Kylie Jenner! I'm kidding. I actually don't exactly have a specific person I look to for style inspiration but I like to wear neutral things and a lot of rings and bracelets but keep everything very chill. Almost every morning before school I text my squad of friends who are all hype beasts and into the latest trends to make sure that my outfit is wearable, and we'll all go shopping together to pick out outfits, which is always really helpful."

What are some of your favorite things to do? : "After school almost every day (when the weather permits it) I meet up with my group of friends consisting of six boys that wear Supreme, Kith, Bape, etc. and we all get ice coffee or a snack after school then hang out for a bit. On a school night, I'd go home and do homework then go to Taekwondo at seven, but on a Friday, we'd go down to Soho for a meet up or just to check out the latest Supreme drop. I love living in the city because you can get anywhere anytime with the train, you don't have to depend on your parents to drive you places. The independence is like no other, and I'm thankful I get to experience that with such a great group of kids who influence my style ;) ."

Cosette at Lincoln Center

After a long finals week at Fiorello H. Laguardia High School in NYC, one of my best friends Cosette and I spent our Friday afternoon hanging around Lincoln Center with one of our other best friends, Isabel. We had a relaxing time enjoying the fresh air and sunny weather, eating ice cream cones, and chatting and spending our afternoon in freedom. The fountain at Lincoln Center was absolutely beautiful as well as the shadows resulting from the gorgeous sunlight.

June in DUMBO

June was a great sport during this photo shoot we did in DUMBO over Spring Break! We enjoyed some Shake Shack goodies and ice cream from the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory along the waterfront and spent a crazy afternoon running all around the neighborhood taking photos. It was absolutely freezing outside but we fought the cold weather for some model-esque pics of this gorgeous girlie!

Get June's Look: Thrifted Grey Jacket, H&M Cotton Shirt in White/Giraffe, American Eagle Outfitters Jeans, Sperry Top-Sider Shoes, and Earrings and Bracelets from Alexia Crawford, Watch from H&M, Thrifted Rings, Bird Necklace from Glow

Style Inspiration: "Style is a way to express yourself but also be comfortable and happy! I try to wear clothes that I think are cute and make me comfortable. I mostly like cute prints and light, easy clothing for summer that I don't have to think about too much. Amandla Stenberg and Tavi Gevinson are my style inspirations."

Happy Sunday! (It Feels Like Spring!)

Hey SundayMuse gals!

Today is such a warm and sunny Sunday in NYC that I'm starting to believe spring will finally come! I went out for a walk in my neighborhood in Brooklyn and the weather was absolutely beautiful. Since spring is just around the corner, I've decided to share some of my fun finds that are perfect for anytime use throughout the season!

First off, let's talk makeup. When I picture putting together a face for the average day in spring, I see two different looks. The first look is very light and warm, and the second is more poppy and energetic. What I use to create the lighter look is simple; earth-tone eyeshadow, which adds a very natural feel to the eyes, some mascara, possibly a little bit of eyeliner, light pink lip gloss or lip color, and some light pink blush. Here's what I use to create this look:

  • Almay's intense i-color 401 smoky-i for browns powder shadow
  • Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara
  • Benefit's they're Real! push-up liner for eyes
  • Buxom's full-on lip cream in White Russian
  • Benefit's Coralista face powder for cheek contour lines
Now, to create the more poppy look for spring, I use products such as stronger pinks for eyeshadow colors, dark mascara, bright and energetic lip colors (pastels are included!), eyeliner, and brightening blush. What I use for this look is:
  • Ulta Beauty eyeshadow in Wide Awake, Pink, or Love
  • same mascara as above or an alternative is Buxom's Amplified Lash Mascara in Loud Black
  • NYX Macaron Lippies in Rose or Lavender (or whatever suits your fancy)
  • eyeko London's Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Black
  • same blush or Ulta Beauty's cheek color in Sweet Cheeks or Champagne
Another thing I like to do is wear light pink nail polish in the spring. It looks very delicate and is so pretty! I like to use Essie's Nail Lacquer in "hi maintenance".

In terms of clothing, I like to wear very light, comfortable clothing that isn't too warm but doesn't exactly announce that it's summer either. Outfits can range from boyfriend jeans and white
short-sleeved shirts to corduroy skirts and a nice patterned top. Mixing and matching is always a fun experiment with clothing as well! I'll be posting more looks within the next few weeks of NYC teens enjoying their style and I'll continue to share ideas! Hope everyone has a lovely week! If you have any thoughts on this post, questions, or anything you simply want to share, leave me a comment! I love hearing what you have to say!

                                                                                                                       xoxo, Olivia

Delilah in Culture in Park Slope

Today was super snowy in NYC! I spent my afternoon on a walk with one of my best friends Delilah! We got frozen yogurt at Culture on 5th Avenue in Brooklyn (even though it was about 20 degrees all day) and just had a nice time chatting and wishing we didn't have school tomorrow :(

Get Delilah's Look: Dark Blue and Light Blue Long-Sleeved Striped Shirt from Target, Skirt, Earrings, and Bracelet thrifted from Housing Works, Necklace from the Union Square Holiday Market.

Style Inspiration: "I think my style is a mix of everything I've ever seen. From movies to old pictures to my favorite celebrities, I take a lot of inspiration. I love that I can express myself with a ranging style. Some days, I love big sweaters and baggy jeans and others I love my mini skirts and turtlenecks. It depends on how I'm feeling, but I think my style is especially influenced by people like Gloria Steinem, Tavi Gevinson, Winona Ryder, Annie Hall, and Kate Moss. Even though I like to "steal" a lot from these people, I think my sense of fashion is really just me."
